Using Proof with SmartAdvocate

Send documents out for service from inside SmartAdvocate. Track every serve, chat with your process server, and get affidavits and invoices saved back to the case automatically.

This guide walks you through setup from start to finish. Your firm's SmartAdvocate admin should follow it, since most steps need admin access in SmartAdvocate.

Step 1: Request the integration

Who: anyone at your firm

  1. Fill out this request form.
  2. Proof arranges with SmartAdvocate to turn on the integration for your firm. This usually takes up to 3 business days. We'll let you know when it's ready.

Done when: you see a Proof tab in the side navigation of a case in SmartAdvocate.

Step 2: Create a login for Proof in SmartAdvocate

Who: your SmartAdvocate admin

Proof connects to SmartAdvocate with its own login, called an API user. Create a new user just for Proof. Don't use a person's own login.

  1. Click the Admin menu in the top right, then Users.

  3. Fill out the form. Write down the login name and password. You'll need them in Step 5.

  4. Check these boxes: API Access, Active, Visible.

  5. Leave these unchecked: Locked, Mobile Application, Enforce password change, Read-only.

  6. For Permission Groups, choose Administrators. If you'd prefer a more limited group, that's fine as long as it can see all cases. Otherwise Proof won't be able to open most of your cases.
